Had enough, so why me?

I am not really one to moan and groan, but I've just about had enough. Having just spent the last 6 years beating lung cancer twice, I am now having to get used to the idea that I am probably diabetic. Yes I am ovrweight, No I can't do much exercise as I have very little lung capacity left so am very breathless and I also have oseoarthritis ibn mny knees and lower back.  I thought I was eating a fairly healthy diet, but apparebtly NOT. DOH! I'm right fed up now.

Just read your chat, and wanted to say that i think you are very brave and i am glad you have beaten your cancer twice.  Beating a little thing like a diet should be a doddle for you and if you do turn out to be diabetic i am sure you will beat that too.  Good luck and i hope you feel better for your moan

Thanks a lot for your kind comments. I don't think I am particularly brave, to be totally honest, when I was first dianosed with lung cancer, none of it registered with mne, it went right over the top of my head. I think that is why i sort of sailed through all the treatments. The 2nd time was harder, only because i was convinved that I would lose my one remaining lung and be put on a machine or something. Apart from the original operation, all my chemo and radiotherapy was on a clinical trial basis. I had nothing to lose so was open to any suggestions. Lucky for me, it all worked and I was overjoyed to hear that the trails that myself and only 3 others had taken were a great success and those treatments are being used to save loads of others now.

As for the diabetes, it hasnow been confirmed that I am Type 2. Still waiting to hear what treatment is needed and what diet/lifestyle changes I have to make. I have already started swimming (well- bobbing about a bit really!) You never know a few weeks and I could be a proper little mermaid, ha ha.   I'll let you know how I get on.

hi there i have just read about your problems, 1st off i agree your brilliant to have battled lung cancer twice that is great. my mum has lung cancer she also has had both treatments one was at our local hospital the other we had to go to southampton for 3 weeks. she found these very stressful being away from the family etc. she is also type 2 diabetic which she can control with her diet at the moment. she also has high blood pressure. she finished her treatment 20th december and gose back for check up in march so fingers crossed she is in remition. cancer is a terrible illness to have in the family let alone having it your self. your a brave women an you deserve a pat on the back and a great big hug keep your chin up. x

I am sure you must be at the end of your tether with one thing after another because if it was me I wouldnt be so brave. I hope you have someone to look after you when you feel you cannot cope. Take care.
