Re: Febrile convulsions (fits)about 1 year agoHi Steff, Neither of my children have had the fits you are talking about, but I am a Nursery Nurse of 9 years and have cared for a lot of children who have had them and i know how scary that was for me, so im guessing as a perent its 100 times worse, but as you have probably been told by your GP its just the bodies way of cooling down! scary but effective! take care claire |

Re: Febrile convulsions (fits)about 1 year agoHi, I used to have febrile convulsions when I was a child. As a result I did not have my children's vaccinations until adulthood, cos Doctors were scared of them triggering a fit. I don't know if that is the rule of thumb now, anyway, i ended up having a lumberpuncture procedure, to take fluid from my spine, to test to see if It was a long term thing that I would have fits for rest of my life, but I dont, I grew out of it by school age. I was lucky as my Mum was a Nurse, and she always said she would lower my body temperature before I got so warm as it would then lead to a convulsion, by being bathed in tepid bath. Good luck
