What's the best way to lose weight?

I want to lose about half a stone but I don't know what diet to try and there are so many on this site as well!

My friend says to try the eat every 13 minutes diet to speed up my motabolism, which sounds like it makes sense or the Atkins diet (so I can eat bacon for breakfast! Yum!) but I've also heard good things about weight watchers and Rosemary conoly. I guess that also make sense because they've been round for ages

What diets have worked for you?

the thing that is working for me at the momsent is not dieting as such but changing the way i eat permanently! after having 2 kids ive put on about 5 stone and my god my boddy can feel it! lol.  But diets aint that great cos once ur finished the diet and go back to your old way of eating it all goes back on.  eating healthy and regular exercize is a great way of losing weight and toning up too.  you should give the reebok step machine a go i got mine from argos for about £50 but its great cos u lose the fat on your bum thighs calfs tummy and back!

People dont realise it is really hard when you have only to lose half to a stone, as it is difficult to shift those last few pounds and you lose heart.  I used the tesco diet a few years ago and it was great, i only lost a lb a week but it was healthy eating and regular loss, and there was lots to eat and great recipes.  I enjoyed cooking for the first time in years.  I have just dug out my old diet sheets that i had printed off as i need to shift a few pounds again.  Try it, it is great, and you dont have to eat different things from the family which always makes it harder.

I totally agree that you should strive to eat healthily most of the time and not just go on a diet to shift some pounds every now and again. You're much more likely to keep the pounds off that way.

I would like to lose about half a stone and I am going to join a gym. Sometimes it helps to raise your activity levels, not just look at what you're eating. I also find that making small changes works best, like cutting down on bread or drinking more water. Rather than try to change your eating habits in one go, you're more likely to stick to them if you change over a period of time.

Like, 4 years ago, I ate really badly and only drank tea or coffee. So I decided to drink 4 pints of water every day. About six months later, I decided to introduce more fruit into my diet and had two pieces in the morning as my snack and so on and so on...

Hope this helps anyway :o)

Keep Smiling and Eat Well :o)

hi. the best way to lose weight is to find a healthy diet plan ie foods u like to eat and add some exersize that you enjoy doing. or join a club like weight watchers i did and i lost 2 and a half stone. i lost it very slowly pound a week lol. but i was happy with this i would do 2 to 3 hours exersise a week. and try to stick to the diet but didnt every day so it was not so bad loseing one pound a week and still eating what i liked. [ not too much chocolate!!]

hope things work out for u.

hi ya,after just havin my first child i put on about 2stone and wanted to lose weight but lose it and keep it off. ive been doin paul mckennas i can make you thin, which is great you can eat what you want when you want it as long as you stick to 4 rules of when you go to eat something check you're actually hungry not bored or depressed etc, eat what you want not what you think you should if you fancy pizza have it, when you eat eat it slowly enjoy what your actually putting in your mouth look at it so you know your eating its far to easy to eat while doin something else then when you next look youve eaten the whole thing without realising it and finally stop when your starting to feel full not when your bloated and fit to burst. sounds so simple but in the first 4 weeks of doin it i have lost nearly a stone. you can get the book off amazon or ebay so it is cheap and listen to the cd (i do it when i go to bed) its good because its not a diet he doesnt tell you what you can or cant eat, he just changes the way you think of food and eating. hope this is of use to you and helps you to lose that weight. claire

Hi all, I have been on the lunch box diet for two weeks now to help me shift the last stone of baby weight, i have already lost 4lb and believe it or not i havent had to go hungry! You get to eat through out the day you just have to make sure that you have the right percentage of each food group and make sure you have a healthy dinner, nice and easy and it works, i hope this helps someone else! x

I really don't believe in diets as a long term health thing, they are more for quick fixes, if you want to lose weight for a holiday or party etc. If you want to lose weight long term, you have to change your eating habits for good.

Motivation is something that is different for everyone. It's finding what works for you. I usually try to stay fitting into my clothes. If they feel tight, I know I've been overeating!

Don't sweat the small stuff. It will make you stinky.
