Bottle Rejection

My son who is 5 months and 3 weeks has just decided he doesnt want his bottle i am worried, i think it maybe his teeth as they have been up and down for sometime now, but he was never off his bottle before, we have been eaning him since christmas and he has baby rice for breakfast and veg for dinner he has a bottle in between and a bottle before bedtime, only he wont take his bottle, he eats from a spoon just fine, but refuses his bottle, this evening i had to put a small amount ofrice in his bottle to thicken it up slightly and spoon fed it to him.  is this usual??

is there a better way to do this?

with 11 years experience and 4 children I can advise you that as long as the baby is eating and drinking fluids, it will be fine. 4 of my children did not drink milk from the day they were born and this was the hardest thing that I had to deal with. I was making up feeds all day and night thinking that I was starving my babies, they would only drink one ounce at a time. 2 of the children were fed milk through a syringe, something I discovered myself whilst giving them medication, this was exhausting work. Most of the time my children had thrush in their mouth, like milk/yogurt stuck on their tongue-this is painful and doesnt make you want to eat or drink---have a look in your babies mouth, thrush covers the tongue all the way down to the throat and will need med to clear it up---also teething will make your child not want to eat or drink---this is uncomfortable for the mum as no one wants to watch their child go hungry but as I said looking back now as long as children eat and drink something they will be fine-ps my children cant stop eating now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
