dealing with chidren with autism

i have a three year old son who has autism i know there are a lot of people who have children with autism

my son he does not speak at all all he does is a screeching noise and hums he loves the telly but it is sometimes very difficult to understand what he wants he is still in nappies also he can get quite heavy handed with his sister who is nearly two he finds it funny when she is crying

he doesnt like meeting new people which they say is one of the signs of autismhe has always been a late developer in walking sitting but the main thing he is delayed in is his speech

he has just started at a special nursery which he love and i get a report of what he has been doing everyday and sometimes i read it and think why isnt he like that at home.

i always blame my self for the way he is, it dosent matter how many health proffesionals tell me it is not my fault it always feels like it is

i do get quite upset about it all i need is someone who understands what i am going through and who i can talk to

about eighteen months ago we moved away from all my family and friends because we had the opprtunity but i do not have any friends near who i can talk to about it

I don't know how much help I'm going to be because my children don't have autism, but I do know someone who has 4 kids, two of whom are autistic, so I have a little bit of understanding.

I'm so sorry you feel so isolated. It must be hard with no family or friends nearby to support you. You can always talk to me :o)

Have you tried looking up on the internet for support groups also? I'm sure there are some for people in your position who would be able to offer advice - the only thing I can offer is my ears :o)

Please write back and let me know what you're thinking.

Keep Smiling and Eat Well :o)

hi there,

you poor thing, i completely understand as my son has autism, and it has beena tough old road, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, and as you say if you can get someone to talk to who understand half your battle is won! i will help you all i can, if you get back on here and reply to this then i;ll give you my email address. My son is 11 now, and when i look back i think how did he change from that child to this but he has!  There is lots of help and understand but you need someone to point you in the right direction.

hoping i can help lots in the furture,

lorraine
