Help needed to slim7 months agoHI I need help to slim, About five years ago I lost 2 stone with Weight Watchers but unfortunately I had an hysterectomy 3 years ago and started to put it back on, I was then put on HRT which did not help, I also have depression problems and I am a carer for my husband who is bipolar. I really do not feel healthy at my present weight of 12 stone 9 pounds so any tips or recipes would help. Elaine |

Re: Help needed to slim7 months agohi i have just joined the site and having been a person who has always struggled with weight feel there is definitely a strong correlation with stress and achieving weight loss. nina is right saying exercise etc.... the trouble is that when you have a lot on in your life and not feeling great, it can become a real vicious circle getting motivated to exercise. I first got started doing a health detox. there is a very reasonable priced place called spa samui in koh samui where you can do a total cleanse and rejuvenate yourself. people travel there from all over the world. I found as a mum of four children with a husband who has his own business which is in the growing stage,,,,i have to take responsibility for my own heath and happiness. I also tend to suffer from depression which really first started after the birth of my second son. have had treatment overy the years but yes the endorphins from exercise and this can be as simple as walking. taking an hour for yourself and invest in a heart monitor so as you build up your fitness you keep aiming to get your heart rate above 120 so you can burn those extra calories. Cant say i still really love exercise and i definitely get a lot of comfort from eating sugary foods, but at least now am aware of it and now at almost 45 years of age i know from losing weight numerous times and putting it back on again that it is more important for me to maintain balance in my life and maintain my weight rather than going up and down....you definitely have a lot on your plate though. i have a niece who suffers from bipolar and i know how difficult and stressful this can be for those in the family. take care and keep in touch |

Re: Help needed to slim6 months ago as nina said its about changing lifestyle habit which is hard i lost weight on the weight watchers diet but have you noticed all they tell you is cut down on portion sizes and eat there ready meals or follow the meals they have in the booklets they give you i recommend going out to a shop like wh smiths getting a healthy eating book and cooking for the whole family the meals you would eat i have tried this myself the young children dont really like it but it gets them on to a healthy lifestyle instead of this i have to diet to be thin culture cant we just be happy with eating healthily no matter of our size im a 14/16 at the moment have only just started eating smaller portions so i will keep you posted hope this helps |
