my daughter is 13 and a half and im worried that she hasnt started her period yet. she started growing breasts when she was 9/10, they are not very big now but they are breasts. she has all the other symptoms but is not starting. she does compeitive swimming, could that effect it? please give me some advice

Hi, I know plenty of girls who were over 15 when they started their monthly's!....it's perfectly normal up to the age of around 17yrs, I wouldn't think the swimming has anything to do with it, although diet can affect it, when young girls go finicky about what they eat...this can stop periods, I wouldn't worry yourself, we have periods long enough, the later you start the better, we should come with an on/off switch really...switch them on around age 20, and off when we have completed our families!.....good luck
