Advice on herpes

Hi. I have recently got in touch with a long lost love after 3 and a half years. In the time apart he got herpes and has told me about it. Im scarred to go anywhere near him due to this infection. I cant even kiss him never mind having sex due to him passing this infection on. What do i do? im mad about the guy. Please can someone give me some advice. thanks

There is no reason to react to your past boyfriend in this way. Many people carry this common virus unknowingly. If he feel any symptoms, ie. tingling down below, tenderness or develops sores he should not be intermate with you. Its best when he feels well that you use condoms and the most important thing is he has been honest with you. Both of you should get in touch with the Herpes and shingles support society they have been fantastic and once you know all the facts all will be fine. Best wishes, Brook
