im in love with my step brother/mums cousin

well im almost 18, my mum remarried but the man she married was her aunties ex husband, so therefore he was her uncle but only through marriage. my step father has son, and he is my age but hes my mums cousin so that would make him my second cousin, the thing is ive really fallen for him, im always thinking about him, and the more i see him the more my feelings grow for him. i se him on a regualr basis and he stays a weeks at a time, we have a laugh and we get on really well, but i just cant stop thinking about him, and i guess i think i need him, well i really want him. do you think im wrong to feel like this about my second cousin?, should i let him know. or should i leave it?

I had to read this a couple of times for it to sink in :o) I read somewhere that situations like this are becoming more and more common place because remarriages are so much more common now.

If you want my opinion, I wouldn't say there's anything "wrong" with your feelings. What I will say is that if he does feel the same and you decide to start a relationship, be honest with your mum and step dad from the start. I think it's important to let them know.

Thanks for that advice Nina, its just that im not sure how he feels about me, sometimes i feel he may feel the same, by the way he talks and acts, but i just don't know. Its really hard to find someone decent that will treat me with respect, he does exactly that, i want to tell him, but i dont want to make a fool of myself because it will be embarassing. He has said he'll be there when i need him, and if i need someone to talk to, i should go to him, but i don't think this is what he had in mind.

Ahhhh, I hope it works out well for you. I would just play it by ear and see how things work out. If he likes you back in "that" way, I'm sure he'll let you kow.

Also, you probably don't want to hear this, but you are quite young - I had LOADS of crushes at your age and I got over most of them. I'm not trying to play down your feelings but I just want you to be prepared for this not being a long term relationship :o)
