Coughs and colds

ive been given antibotics by my dr b4 for a cold and it annoys me that they dont do any good. we believe what drs say so you rekon tablets should work. why cant they say theres no point taking anyting

your lucky to get anitibotics outof your doc. mine refuses to give them. i'm sick of taking sick kids to see her and being told they've just got a 'virus' n and to 'keep an eye on them.' why do they need all those years of training to say that to me - i could do her job (and get all her money too) if thats all you have to say...

 They have (apparently) stopped giving antibiotics as much as they used to because bacteria are becoming immune to them, maybe thats why we now have these superbugs that are resistant to antibiotics.

very true, mrsm. id much rather drink some orange juice and eat propely than stuff myself full of pills if im honest

I'm surprised they gave you antibiotics as they won't do much for a cold. You sure it wasn't something worse than a cold?

I know my docs won't give anti-biotics for kids ear and throat infections unless they are running a severe temp as well. I took my grandson only last week and doc said it was a viral infection, plus I think sometimes it's better to let nature take it's course then immunity can build up and grandson is fine now, but having said that i've just got back from docs with anti-bitics for a chest infection. I do really trust him and that helps.
