Hi, this is something I can help with.....I was in the same situation a couple of months ago with my one yr old, he is now 14 months...he kept waking every two hours for a feed (brestfeed) and he wouldn't even sleep in his own cot!

I chose to start a little routine (after consulting Nina, on this website,I had the reassurance to do it).  I made sure my son ate lots in the day, and he had his two bottles of milk before bed, and then I kept him going until I went to bed around 10 pm, put him in his cot, rubbing his back, it is hard work at first but I felt the progress, after about a week of that, when he slept 10pm-5am.

I was strict with the "rules", I rubbed his back, not taking him out of cot (as he thought he was getting into my bed then you see, don't think you have that problem though with your baby?)...When he sat up in his cot, I lay him down, rubbing his back and (saying "shush"....If I thought he was thirsty, they tend to after all the crying, don't they?!...I gave him juice only, in his bottle.  Its hard at first, I never had this problem with my older two children, they naturally gravitated to thier own cot, needing thier own space, and enjoying thier sleep, all children are different, it is not your fault, so don't blame yourself.

Just remember a child over one has a big enough stomach, that he doesn't need to be waking in the night, he can have plenty of food in the day, his three meals, fruit and biscuit snacks, juice and then two 9 oz bottles of milk, does it for my baby, he's a perfect weight, they are growing all the time, I will check back again, let me know how you are?, and how your sleep training is going?

Funky batch, how is the night time training going?...My baby had a bad week last week, he was a bit out of sorts, but he slept ok last night, I took him up at 11pm, and he slept through until 7am, its perserverance, and it can wear you down, but its worth it in the end, hope you get some rest,   From Hannah

Whats with the new log in system?...just had to log on twice, arg !!!

Anyway, sorry to hear it's not going well, sleep training your little one does take a good many weeks for it to click with them, and unfortunately once you give in, you are back to the beginning, it sucks, i understand, I have good nights and bad nights with my 14 month old.  They are old enough to sleep in blocks during the night, you are doing the right thing by keeping at it, especially havung another little one on the way, congrats, its the tiredness in the beginning of pregnancy too that can wear you down, isnt it?...Does he sleep much in the day?, if so think about reducing that, so he's more tired at night?....keep us posted on yoyr progress, good luck    x

yes, its best to see what the doctors say about his back, aaah, hope he's not waking lots cos of pain, as mum's we would rather it be ourselves, you need to be getting rest with being pregnant again, so I really think some stricter night routine is to be perservered with, its not forever, and all kids can realise that waking up gets them no rewards, his naps arent very long, they don't seem to be the problem.  I think sleep training with my youngest was slower because I wasnt assertive, as I was too worried that he would wake the older two up (who have school), or my hubby, but it is one of those things that has to eventually be done, that person who Nykita mentioned was obvoiusly waking because someone was still giving in to her, my advice is to nip it in the bud now befire you have another baby to be tired with, good luck
