Has any1 had more than 1 caesarean.... need to know about afterpains.

My sister-in-law is pregnant with her second child and she is having a caesarean for the second time too.

She asked me about afterpains, but i was unable to help her because i have given birth to my 2 naturally.

Anybody that has had 2 or more caesareans, could you please let me know whether you breastfed or bottlefed and whether you had afterpains or not( with your second baby)

Thankyou.

Hi, I have had 5 caesarean sections, my children range from 24 - 9 years now, I did get after pains for about 3 or 4 weeks after and I breast fed all my children for up to a year each with no problems, a caesarean should not effect that at all, but it may be easier to lay the baby on a pillow over your tummy for a little while to protect the wound and make it feel more comfortable,  I was sterilised on my fifth caesaren because they said my insides were looking a little thin as they tend to go through the same hole each time and as I was laying there open so to speak it was easier to put the sterilizing clips on rather than go back for another operation.  Hope that some of this helps you, from claire

Hi, wow, I didn't think you would be allowed that many c/sections, in case of complications of damaging the scar tissue every time they went in, I find that interesting as my sis- in -law had an emergency c/section and they told her to wait two yrs before having another baby, to allow time for scar healing, and I said she wouldn't be able to have a big family because all of her future babies would be c/sections.   I had three "natural" births, only with my middle child, were the after pains hurrendous, as he was a bigger baby, so the pains are caused by the uterus trying to get back to its natural size, breastfeeding speeds this up, so I suppose thats more painful, I breastfed all of my children, but thats each womans choice.
