shy friend

I have this friend, he was in a relationship for about nine years and was then cheated on, since then he has become very very shy and will not talk to girls much. he finds it easy to talk to me as I am his friends girlfriend and we are in the same club. I have tried talking him into taking courage and talking to women again but he is too nervous. He doesn't know the first thing to say. does anyone have any advice so I can help him??? I am running out of ideas!!! He was cheated on so it is understandable for him to feel scared but he shouldn't have to give up because of one mistake.

IM SORRY TO HERE THAT YOUR FRIEND WAS CHEATED ON , I THINK SOMEPEOPLE JUST DON'T KNOW THE EXTENT OF HURT THEY CAN CAUSE BY BEING UNFAITHFUL, I HAVE BEEN THERE MANY TIME AT LEAST MORE THAN 7 SO PLEASE DONT WORRY TO MUCH ABOUT YOUR FRIEND HE WILL COME ROUND EVENTUALLY, SOME PEOPLE HIDE THERE HART LONGER THAN OTHERS TO LET IT HEAL, AS FOR HIM TRYIGN TO TALK TO WOMEN YOU COULD SUGGEST HIM TALKIGN TO SOME OF YOUR FIRNEDS NTO DATING JUST TALKING, GO TO SOCIAL EVENTS WHERE HE WILL HAVE TO TRY TO CHAT THIS MIGHT HELP WITH CONFIDENCE ISSUES XXX

thankyou very much for you advice!!! it was very helpful, the trouble is that most things we attend are local and he won't talk to anyone in the same county basically!!! I have been through a lot, I was raped by my ex-fiance and had more cases of abuse before that and despite what I have been through I have found my best friend my soulmate and my lover all in one person and after all that and I belive that everyone should have that and I hate to see my friend who is such a kind and friendly person being alone over this. I just hope he sees that any girl would be lucky to have him and that she lost out be cheating in him not the other way around.

 The only thing I can think of is try take him out the county and let him try to take courage.
