What do you think of BBQs?

Hi there, everyone. I've just done an interview with Masterchef's Gregg Wallace (www.goodtoknow.co.uk/food/261719/-I-have-to-force-veg-down-my-son-). He says that he absolutely hates barbecues... Do you love them or hate them? And, if the sun comes out, what will you be cooking on your BBQ?

I love BBQs! What an easy way to cook for people!

 I have to admit that I tend to cheat and buy the sauces to marinate meat with rather than make my own. But I do BBQ vegetables on sticks, like kebabs, they normally go down very well with kids. I do tend to cook chicken rather than other meats because it's so easy.

Oh and we love corn on the cob and jacket potatoes :o)

Hi Nina, glad to hear you're still planning on having a few BBQs! What did you think of what Gregg had to say about them?

I thought Gregg had some very good ideas on how to get kids to eat veg and different ways to cook it but I did disagree with some of his ideas - especially on steaming veg and BBQs!

He didn't really give a satisfactory answer as to why steaming isn't good - he said that the blisters would be the same from boiling water as they would from steam but what does that prove?! That steam and water are just as effective! Didn't make sense to me!

Also, does it really matter that BBQs aren't British? Neither is food from other countries. He talks about making a strawberry pavlova - this is Italian isn't it? Are they "taking over" the UK too? Plus he talks about BBQs like they are buffets - well, when we have a BBQ, everyone gets to sit down somewhere. Yes, the plates are usually paper, but they can set it down with their drink on a table!

Anyway, that's my thoughts!
