Endometriosis?? sevear pain please help

I am 21 and i have been having period issues since i was 15. about 6years ago i went on the pill but started having extreamly bad side effects from it like losing the sensation in my arm and legs so i had to come off it. i then changed to another pill (not microginagen) and it was ok for a while untill i started to develop the same reactions. i have been off the pill for around a year now and for the last 7 months i have been experiencing excruciating pains. i have always had bad heavy periods but the last 7 months have caused me to become imobile and unable to do anything. i get bad clotting but i do not think this has anything to do with the pains because the pain is there before and after. i get these pains about a week before my period and a week after my period also through my period. so sometimes i only have a week break from it all. i have tried a lot of remedies such as a hot bath (which works untill the second i get out then the sevear pain comes back), a hot water bottle, pain killers with codine, regular pain killers, mephenamic acid, exercising, eating healthy and drinking a lot of fluids. not matter what i do the pain is always there and each month it get worse and worse. it is as if i can feel the pain on my ovaries but it just feels like a needle going straight throught me and it is only on the one side. i have been to the doctors and had a scan but i ddnt recieve any more advice or medical information. i dont think this was delt with properly and would appreciate any advice you can give me. i have done research on many illnesses that it could possibly be.  please help!!! it will be much appreciated

Hi there,

I have experienced the same problems as yourself and i thought there might be a few things that could be of some help to you.

First of all, be persistant with doctors.  Without being disrespectful to the NHS, some doctors just do not want to listen to you.  I had to go to the doctors 4 times about my endometriosis before i was referred to a gynaecologist.  The pain got that bad i actually went to A & E twice and even there they wouldnt give me a scan claiming they could only scan ladies with 'early pregnancy problems' mine obviously wasnt.

I ended up paying to go for a private scan which like yourself showed nothing.  It was only when i eventually saw the gynaecologist that he told me that endometriosis doesnt show up in scans.  I went in for an operation to have a laprioscopy (where they insert a small camera through your belly button) This showed up that i was suffering from endometriosis and they lasered it off at the same time when inserting the camera.  It was the most awful time though, i know exactly how you feel.  you feel extremely frustrated and the pain is unreal.  You need to be persistant and go back to the doctors and demand you get referred.

As for helping the pain, i never found anything that really helped it.  I would suggest 'Feminax' or another strong painkiller like that.  You seem to be doing everything else right, like healthy eating but if you have a read up on the internet about endometriosis it will show you that it is difficult to help it as its actually tissue growing elsewhere (normally pelvis) which should normally be shed with your period.

Good luck with it and remember to go back to the doctors and be persistant with them, they might then listen to you! Let me know how you get on!
