Life Revolving Around Kids?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like this but does anybpdy else spend most of their free time ferrying their kids to and from various activities?

Mine only do Punjabi classes and ballet outside of school but Punjabi classes are three days a week and ballet is on Saturday mornings. It was the ballet show at the weekend - 5 shows across 2 days and rehearsals 3 evenings last week. We didn't get home until 10:30pm on Saturday and 6:30pm on Sunday. We're absolutely exhausted! I also have a governor's meeting this evening (girls' school)!

Thankfully it's summer time and all classes and school have come to an end for 6 weeks - woohoo! No more rushing around getting them to places and doing packed lunches every day :o)

I have GOT to get myself a hobby, all I do at the moment is work and look after the girls. Not a good combination. I enjoy it immensely but feel the need for something to call my own.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It will make you stinky.

Mine aren't quite old enough to be into all that, but let's face it, once you have kids your own (social) life goes out of the window for quite a while, doesn't it?
What's more difficult for me and my partner is the friends who haven't got kids who don't get how life changes once you do have kids. A good example is how difficult it is to meet someone for a night out earlier than 7.30pm, because I have to wait for my other half to get home from work.

Also, it's very irritating when people say they'll meet up and you make arrangements to go along with that and then they cancel a couple of hours before. Grrr!

Oh I agree completely - people without kids just don't understand! Well, most of them don't anyway!

It is annoying when people cancel at the last minute. What I can't seem to get friends to understand is that I don't feel comfortable leaving my kids with a babysitter if my parents are busy. It's not that I have anything against babysitters, but I've never left my kids with anyone but family and I just don't feel comfortable doing that..

Another bug bear is that because I work my hours around my husband's shifts, we do like to sit at home in the evenings and just spend time together as a family. We don't want to spend our free time out with other people when we have precious little time together as it is!

We never use babysitters either. Quite aside from how much they cost, Ava isn't comfortable with people she doesn't really know and that's important if she wakes up when we're not around.

And yes, evenings, are for us and not other people. It doesn't mean we don't go out, but when we do it's a treat and something we really enjoy.

We know a couple who are always going out and although it was something we both used to do, now neither of us want to go out and get drunk any more. I can't remember the last time I felt like that!
