finding a job or suitabe training

Hi every1 finding myself at a junction in my life, i dont have any qualifications as such so i need a job that provides training (not 2 many around)! Or finding suitable training for a job i want, im not really a confident person, and when i have done anything or passed anything (doin ecdl comp course passed a few modules), i feel like ive just passed & often wonder how i did it. if some1 for example came up and said do me a spreadsheet id panic and not no how to do it (although i passed it in my ecdl course prob by more luck than knowing how to do it). goin to college isnt really an option i dont want to live on bursarys dont even really no how they work. Help i just dont no what to do and if i could say 2 hell with it & take the plunge and maybe go to college full time, if it was goin to be worth while & not upset our money to much as ive got bills debts to pay. Ive got an interview at job centre today & really no looking forward to it just dont no what to do!!!!!! My man will always tell me the hard facts e.g. how it would upset our money & how we couldnt live on bursarys etc etc id like for some1 to support me and tell me it will all be ok and id manage!!!! feeling down thinking bout it all just feel like im goin to hit a brick wall!!!!! Anyway thanks for listening take care xx

Hiya

I think you should do some research first, see what you would like to do as there is so much choice out there. There are job centres (how did your interview go?), college open days and the internet too. It might be worth seeing a careers advisor too (your job centre should be able to put you in touch). It might be worth signing up to an agency that specialises in the work you want to do - quite often these positions result in permanent jobs and the pay's not too bad for getting the experience.

It can seem daunting, I had a break from work for two years before I started looking for work again and I was very nervous. It's also hard work finding a job you really want to do! I applied for 40 jobs and attended 8 interviews over a 4 month period before getting this job - I was actually offered 3 jobs in total and was lucky to have a choice in the end!

Whatever you do, good luck and try not to put yourself down. You sound intelligent enough to me and should go for it. My philosophy for jobs has always been that no one's going to offer you a job - you have to get yourself out there and apply :o)
