Hi all,

Thinking about joining the gym. £55 a month - not too bad but is it worth it?

That's ok for a gym mmbership if you actually go!!!! Most popel dont go and still end up paying evry month for it thats how they make there money!!!

just eneded  my gym membership after 1 year, my advise is dont bother, mine was £44 a month, but you have to sign up for a year, then give 3 mnths written notice.I was realy good at first for about 3 month, then went twce or three times a week, beause i hd ad for it, i dreaded going i the end.I  now go to the local council gym an pool paid £.7.50 for the year and get no classes cheaper because i  have a leisure centre card.Ionly lost the paper pounds not the weighty ones.

I joined the gym in January as part of my New Years resolutions but never ended up going till about 4 weeks ago as I'm off on me hols soon. I was really scared to go on my own coz I was worried everyone would stare at me but I go really early in the morning now and get loads done. Its nice to have time to my self Id never have any time if i was to go in the day to exercise. so its only now that Ive realised the gym is worth it but only if your gonna go. i spose i wasted loadsa money by not going this year but i was too lazy to end my membership - bad really. anyway im glad now!

Hi me & my partner are trying to loose weight he wants to go back to gym & has asked me to go with him just to the local gym at the high school it dosent cost to much & you dont need a membership which is handy, no sure if i want to do it or not no sure if id rather go myself so i get "me" time when kids are at school/nursery but then id have to go to a proper gym & im no sure how much that would cost but theyre local which is good. goin to turkey in october so could do with trying to loose weight & get fit!!!!! Ive also got the strictly come dancing dvd but ive no done it or tried it yet, i should maybe try that before throwing myself into the gym!?

We have a local community centre which does really cheap gym memberships.

If you can afford it and you are going to go then, yes, its worth it but paying £55 a month out for nothing is a huge waste of money. Why dont you try going for a run in the mornings, its free and will help you realise whether or not you are going to give up after a few days or stick at it.
