Pyramid Eating10 months agoI heard about this thing called pyramid eating. Basically the idea is that you eat loads for breakfast, a fair amount for lunch and very little for dinner. You're piling your face with food at the start of the day, burn it off as you walk around and actually do things, and you only eat a bit for dinner because you don't need that much energy to lie in a bed and sleep...and normally we have huge dinners so we pile on weight because we eat our biggest meals right when we're about to do nothing at all. That made a lot of sense to me so I tried it for a week when I went on hols for a week with a mate who was also trying to lose weight. I have to say it worked. I'd eat shedloads for breakfast, a kinda normal meal for lunch, and a yoghurt and banana for dinner. We also did a lot of walking and swimming, yay, but we're not that fit really, it was mostly about the diet. So... a week later when I got back to work, I felt great, full of energy, and people were complimenting me on how much weight I'd lost. Some people were actually worried about it I'd lost it so fast. So I'd totally recommend pyramid eating! BUT HERE'S THE CATCH... 1) Making sure you eat a huge breakfast is hard if you've got a day job and you're in a rush in the mornings. You have to be disciplined, and you can't slip up by going for a drink or three the evening before and then not bothering to fix yourself a good breakfast. 2) I get the feeling this is a single girl's diet. How on earth would you get a man, a hubby or kids to eat huge breakfasts and nearly nothing for dinner? What do you think about it? Has anyone else ever tried it? |

Re: Pyramid Eating10 months agoI have heard of this but it was called something like: Breakfast like a queen Lunch like a princess Dine like a pauper Although that doesn't sound right now - you get the idea. It's basically what's you've written, called something else. It does seem to make a lot of sense but I'd have trouble sticking to it because I've never been able to eat breakfast. I snack on fruit and toast during the morning and then have a light lunch. I'm a snacker really, though. I've never been able to eat till I'm overfull - but I do seem to eat every couple of hours. Are you going to give this a go/ stick to it? Don't sweat the small stuff. It will make you stinky. |

Re: Pyramid Eating7 months agoThis is actually a very good way to lose weight. It's also known as macronutrient timing which a lof of diets that work incorporate. The premise is that you eat more around the time you need to use energy (such as throughout the day when your body is burning energy while working etc.) People that exercise at the gym after work may want to ammend this by replacing lunch with afternoon tea, so they have the sufficient energy to get a good workout. We still need energy while we sleep though, so make sure you eat a good enough sized dinner to repair your body. I love tailoring meals like this as it's a sensible eating method and makes a lot of sense. Congratulations on your success with this!
