Typical Day's Food Anyone? Be Honest!10 months agoWhile I'm posting about food (and trying not to go to the chocolate cupboard we have here at work) I thought it might be fun to see what we eat in a typical day. So pick a day this week, and list what you ate - HONESTLY! I'll start - here's what I ate yesterday in order of eating/ drinking: Pint of water Glass of fruit juice Cup of tea (white, no sugar) 2 satsumas 2 slices wholemeal toast with Clover spread, cup of tea (white, no sugar) 2 chocolate biscuits Beans on toast with cheese, pint of water 4 chocolate biscuits, milky coffee 2 chapattis with carrot, potato and peas sabzee (curry), pint of water Packet of crisps Mug of hot semi-skimmed milk (no sugar), Galaxy bar
How about everyone else? I do try to be healthy, I start my day with all good intentions but it falls apart mid morning - I blame this chocolate cupboard at work! Would also be interesting to see what the Goodtoknow staff have too Nx Don't sweat the small stuff. It will make you stinky. Edited 10 months ago by UNKNOWN USER |

Re: Typical Day's Food Anyone? Be Honest!10 months agoI'm not sure I want to reveal my dirty secrets in public but it might help me realise where I'm going wrong with my 'diet'... So here's what I ate yesterday... It sounds a bit like what Big Brother contestants eat when they've failed a task. Breakfast - 1 hard boiled egg, 1 pot of yoghurt, 3 smallish bits of broccoli |

Re: Typical Day's Food Anyone? Be Honest!10 months agoWow - I feel so much better after just eating a huge piece of cake!! Here's what I had yesterday... breakfast - porridge, blueberries and a smoothie lunch - sweet potato and carrot soup, banana, orange here's where my 3pm sweet tooth kicks in... 3pm - big slice of chocolate cake!!! dinner - chickpea curry, rice and peppers here's where the 9pm sweet tooth kicks in... 9pm - hot chocolate with marshmallows, icecream with melted cadbury's caramel (so so nice!! put 3 squares in the microwave with a little bit of milk for 10 seconds, stir and then icecream on top) so im quite good most of the time until my sweet cravings. i wish i could stop those!!! maybe i dont eat enough at other times?? also a bit of cake every day is good for the soul i think!!! everyone needs a monkey cake! |

Re: Typical Day's Food Anyone? Be Honest!10 months agoDid you make that monkey cake yourself? It's super-cute! I think everyone probably does need a monkey cake. Fancy making one so big it gets in the world records so we can all have a bit? I've got a sweet tooth too, so at the moment I'm allowing myself sugar and tea and coffee (cuz it's controllable and makes me less likely to reach for a Bounty), but I'm keeping almonds and bananas on my desk. When munchie-time comes, a banana fills me up, and so do almonds (plus almonds are meant to help burn off belly fat). Oh Nina, sorry, I didn't see the end bit of your post there! I work in East London in a small design company, which means hefty travel times once I move to South London / Surrey |

Re: Typical Day's Food Anyone? Be Honest!10 months agoWell, this HAS been a successful posting! You know when they say "instead of reaching for the chocolate, have a banana or slices of cucumber"? Has anyone ever CRAVED a banana, or salad for that matter? I know they're better for you, but I'd rather have nothing than substitute cake for fruit *lol* Again, do NOT tell my children this! I've managed to convince them from an early age that eating grapes is like eating sweets *lol* Oh my god, I have to try that melting caramel chocolate thing! This is not good, I didn't start this post so we could compare ways to eat badly *lol* Women, huh? While we're on eating badly, my favourite snack is garlic bread (sometimes I just heat it in the microwave if I'm being lazy - not as nice, but it's OK) dipped in garlic mayonnaise. My girls usually pinch some off me so I don't have the whole baguette - I'd probably be the size of a house without them around! Oooh, garlic bread with curry - delicious! You may have guessed, I like garlic! Don't sweat the small stuff. It will make you stinky. |

Re: Typical Day's Food Anyone? Be Honest!10 months agoOh I love garlic too! Theres nothing tastier than something with loadsa garlic in. I know what you mean, who craves bananas? Oh but sometimes if I don't drink enough water, I do get a real craving for fruit, like grapes and juicy things. I really crave things like pies on a week day at around 7pm, just before dinner - I have dinner really late which is so bad, but its hard when you're working. Anyway here's what I had yesterday: Hot water Breakky: Marmite and toast (love marmite) and tea Lunch: Pie, boiled potatoes and beans, apple juice Snacks: Nuts (salty ones) and cherry tomatoes - I know that's abit weird Hot water (I love hot water) Herbal tea with choccy biscuits Dinner: Homemade soup with loadsa cheese on top.

Re: Typical Day's Food Anyone? Be Honest!10 months agoWell done Jenno, that sounds like a great diet - really healthy without taking things too far! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone with a love of hot water though. Most of us at least stick a bit of ribena in it, or at least a bit of honey and a slice of lemon if we're feeling posh I love the Polish way of drinking tea - no milk, but a fat squeeze of lemon and sugar. It's really refreshing and astringent. Apart from the sugar and the tannin it's really good for you. Also, I love home-made garlic toast! Toast your bread on one side under a grill. Then spoon olive oil on the other side and smear crushed garlic and a bit of salt on it. Then toast that... |

Re: Typical Day's Food Anyone? Be Honest!10 months agoMmm Mooksy that garlic toast is making me hungry. I think this writing down stuff is a really good idea. Its so easy to forget that odd biscuit or choccy but when you write it down you cant forget. Theres an online diet like that but who needs it when we can do it here! |
