has anyone one had shingles before? how long does it normally last

any info would be great

Hi there

Shingles normally lasts around 2-4 weeks, I'm afraid. Sometimes you can get the rash without the pain, but it's normally both.

Make sure you go and see your doctor, because you can get some medicine to ease the symptoms.

 It generally depends whether you have a strong immune system.  My late husband had shingles when he was on kidney dialysis, it was quite a nasty bout and lasted about a fortnight, he had some special ointment to paint on the blistered area. Unfortunately it left him with scars, all three of my children caught chicken pox from it.  I had shingles on my arm, I didn't have many blisters but a great deal of pain, luckily mine cleared up in just over a week as I have a stronger immune system than what my husband had.
