I want sleep!11 months agoMy 20 month old still wakes up in the night and won't go back to sleep in her own cot. Some nights she sleeps through but then she'll refuse to leave our bed and keeps me awake for hours. any sggestions? You had me at 'hello!' |

Re: I want sleep!11 months agoAccording to everything I've read on this subject, the only thing that works is putting her back into her own bed every time she gets out of it. You have to persevere and not give it. This can be exhausting so it might be a good idea to start at the weekend or when you know you (both) can spend the next day resting. I've always found sticker charts work wonders - she gets a sticker every time she stays in her own bed and 5 stickers = a reward like a cinema trip or a small toy.

Re: I want sleep!9 months agoMy daughter is 2 1/2 years old and still doesnt sleep through the night, she never has really. I think in her life she has only slept through about 7 times. I'm knackered! we took her to the doc when she was about 12 months old to see if there was anything they could give her to help her sleep but they said no, she also said "genious's dont need a lot of sleep" lol. There might not be anything you can do to make her sleep through but i do agree that you have to keep putting her back into her own bed like we had to with hope. She would scream the place down till we put her in with us but it got to the stage where we needed some alone time so drastic measures were called for. Each time she got out of her bedwe put her back, it was exhausting but after a couple of nights she learnt where her bed was. Only now we are conciering taking hope back to the GP as they can give her something now that she is 2 1/2. I hope you can persevere with it as it was the only way we could get hope into her own bed. I hope all goes better for you than it has for us with hope. GOOD LUCK!! and hope this helps you see that there are other people going through it with you. |

Re: I want sleep!9 months agoHello! My eldest boy was a similar age when i finally got him to sleep thru. In the end it was causing alot of tension between me & my fella so we left him to cry. It was REALLY hard, knowone likes to hear their child/baby in distress, but it worked very quickly. Within a week he was sleeping thru. When i fell preg with boy no.2 we said that we were not going to go thru the same thing again, and we didnt. We started straight away with a bedtime routine. Right from the start he only woke to feed at about 4-5 which was almost thru. By 5 weeks he slept from 11 -7. We always left him to cry ( aslong as nappy ok and not need feeding/winding) Actually he is now a very mellow boy at 21 months, infact hes more chilled that my 4 year old ever was at that age! You have to stick to your guns when you decide what to do you will get there eventually. |
