Edinburgh ice rink



One of Europe’s largest open air ice rinks, this one in East Princes Street Gardens is set against Edinburgh’s dramatic skyline, beneath the castle, and has a fun, festive feeling with fairy lights hanging from the trees. There's a kiddies rink for under-7s, a play area for winter sports, traditional food, mulled wine and mince pies.

Glasgow ice rink



Whether you're a skater or an absolute beginner, Glasgow on Ice is ideal. The rink is set beneath George Square's stunning Christmas tree and sparkling lights. Wrap up warm and skate around the Scott Monument, in the middle of the rink. Afterwards, you can have a hot chocolate in the cafe or take a ride on the helter skelter.
When? Nov 21 - Jan 3. Open daily from 10am to 10pm.

North



York ice rink



Set against a spectacular backdrop of the 13th century Clifford's Tower, the Law Courts and the Castle Museum, the Ice Factor also boasts York's biggest Christmas tree, plus log cabins, theatrical lighting and a fairylight-covered oak tree in the centre. There's an ice bar and café decorated with giant black and white photographs.
When? Nov 14 - Jan 3. Open daily from 10am to 9:30pm.

Wetherby ice rink




Stockfield Park, as well as a rink, has a Christmas Adventure with an enchanted wood (a 1.2km trail which winds its way through the woodland), a snowflake maze and a Nordic cross-country ski trail. From dusk, the park is lit up and looks magical.
When? Until Jan 3. Open daily from 11.30am - 8.30pm. Closes at 7pm on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve and opens at 2pm on New Years Day.
How much? Adults £8.50, kids £6.50. All-in prices are offered if you choose to enter the Enchanted Wood, Nordic ski or snowflake Maze.
