How to make sunny paper plate faces

(1 ratings)
With some common household items, create these cheery crafts with your own little rays of sunshine.

If you're a mum who's not too keen on all the fuss and mess that comes with more intensive activities, this is the perfect project to take on with the kids. From paper plates to clothespins, the supplies needed for these creations will barely make a dent in your bank account.

Simply paint your plate and pins a vibrant yellow and attach some colourful strands to create these fun decorations. Don't forget to add googly eyes and a beaming smile; they'll go a long way in spreading the good vibes. In a matter of minutes, you can string them together and hang them up for a sunny wall mural.

You will need

  • Paper plate
  • Wooden pegs
  • Paint brush
  • Yellow paint
  • Wiggle eyes
  • Glue
  • Black pen
  • Neon paper
  • Scissors

  • Step 1

Paint the surface of the paper plate and wooden pegs with yellow paint and leave to dry.

    Step 2

Fold the plate in half, and attach the pegs around the curved edge so that you have some top little rays.

    Step 3

Stick some wiggle eyes to the sun's face, and then draw a smiley mouth with a black pen. If you're making more than one sun then try giving them different expressions!

    Step 4

Cut some 1cm wide strips of neon paper and glue them along the back of the bottom of the sun. Curl the ends of the paper strips by winding them around a pen if you like.

And you're done! Hang up on the fridge in pride of place to show off your little one's crafty skills.

If you've had a go at making these or any of our other crafts then don't forget to let us know! We love hearing about everything you're up to.
