Make and Sell
Crafts don't just have to be for your own enjoyment. You can easily make some money with your creations - you just need to know what to make and sell.
Our make and sell craft section is full of ideas for all different types of sales. If you've made something you are quite proud of, chances are someone else will like it and might even want to pay for it.
The most important thing to remember when making crafts to sell is to make sure that you don't spend more than your make back. Work out your costs and how much you would charge per item before you start to make sure you're making a profit!
Where to sell your crafts
School or village fetes
There's always some kind of fete going on and they'd love for you to have a stall selling your homemade crafts. There's usually a small fee to rent a table or space so work this into your costs when working out your spending. To find your nearest village or school fete, simply Google your area or contact your local council.
Chances are you'll have a couple of weekly car boots within walking or driving distance of your house - and it's pretty cheap to set up a stall. Car boots are not only great for getting rid of unwanted items, you can also sell your higher value crafts such as upcycled furniture or home crafts.
Antique shops and fairs
If you've got a knack for upcycling old furniture you could get into the habit of buying old furniture cheap, giving it a fresh coat of paint and a little styling and selling it on for a profit. Find a local antique shop or fair and ask how you can sell your crafts.
Online marketplaces such as Etsy or Ebay mean you can set up your own virtual shop without having to pay the expensive overheads. Most of the big sites will charge you a small fee for sales but it's much less than you'd pay for a physical shop or stall. Read out easy guide for how to sell items on Ebay to get started.
