If you put butter or full-fat margarine on two slices of bread a day, try using a low-fat spread instead. You'll save 70 calories and 8g of fat every day, leading to a weight loss of half a stone in a year! To be low fat a spread has to contain less than 40% fat (40g per 100g), so make sure you check the label.

When i was pregnant 20 years ago i went to a bakery and ordered a ham salad on a bread roll, the smell of the fresh bread and ham with the salad was too much i had to eat it as soon as i got out of the shop, not that i like eating in the street. I took one bite and thought yummy this is nice and then the next bite there was a huge amount of butter on it and i threw up there and then, and to this day i have not had any butter or margarine(cos that is worse) since. Believe me you do not need it at all and you can lose weight by not using it, try a low fat mayo or salad dressing thinly of cause on sandwiches. Also when it comes to toast you definetely dont need it as the spreads you put on is that not what you want to taste, of cause it is, like beans or spaghetti that soaks enough in the bread anyway, and cheese or jams , even better for breakfasts when you only have time for toast try vegemite (australian) if not use marmite. You will find that over months you will find that you do not need to use butter or margarine at all. By the way i have just realised i am 37 with a 19 year old son but still look for any tips on how to lose weight. I also find the best way to start the day is green tea, ok it might not taste the best but you do get used to it and aim for 3-4 cups a day it boosts your metabolism big time.
