Skipping meals often seems the thing to do if you're trying to lose weight, but it can have a negative effect in a number of ways. If you deny your body of food it goes into starvation mode, keeping hold of the stores of fat that you have. Skipping meals can also cause a drop in your blood sugar levels, which can leave you feeling fatigued, light-headed and often mean you reach for high fat and high calorie foods.

Skipping meals can also lead to bingeing in the evening, especially if you tend to skip lunch and you'll also miss out on essential nutrients that your body needs, which can lead to reduced immune system, increasing your susceptibility to illness. So if you want to lose weight, eat three well-balanced meals a day!
