What do they do?
Teach swimming! You'll need to love the water, be a competent swimmer and have good communication skills. You can specialise in teaching any age from toddlers to elderly.

What qualifications do you need?
To teach unsupervised, you need to have passed levels 1 and 2 of the Amateur Swimming Association's Teaching certificate. This costs up to £500 in tuition and assessment fees.

How much do they earn?
Around £11 an hour if they're full qualified. Most swimming teachers work part-time on a freelance basis at evenings and weekends. A club coach can expect to earn around £13 an hour.
