I tried the Canderel shape-up plan
Canderel asked celebrity nutritionist Fiona Hunter to create a tasty, easy-to-follow diet plan - it even allows you to eat curries while losing weight!
It was tested out on exercise-reluctant sisters, Anne, 51, and Jackie, 61. (pictured above, before the diet)
The Canderel diet is a balanced, four-week plan which includes British favorites like chilli con carne, rice pudding and fish pie, plus contemporary dishes like Thai chicken and sweet potato curry, teriyaki salmon and a delicious strawberry and mint smoothie.
Over four weeks, the sisters have lost a stone each (and ate cakes!). Anne, who used to teach fashion at Derby University, 'would definitely recommend the diet to a friend' and Jackie, retired, thought the diet was 'very easy and the recipes are delicious and didn't even feel like a diet!'
We asked Anne, 51, how she found the diet:
'My weight before was 12 stone, 8 lb (179 lbs) - it's now 12 st (168 lbs). I found the diet very easy to follow, clear and concise. I have a very busy lifestyle that doesn't make it easy for me to prepare food in advance, so once I got used to the rules, I was able to select appropriate food that fitted into the calorie intake.
'One problem I found was no alcohol was mentioned! After a hard day at work, what a girl needs is a fine glass of Chablis so that's where I cheated - I'd have certainly lost more weight had I adhered to that rule. My favourite meal was the teriyaki salmon as I love sushi-style food anyway.
'In terms of body shape, I don't look like an egg timer anymore! I've never weighed as much as I did before this diet and it's true - when you reach a certain age, it's so much more difficult to get rid of those extra pounds and change shape. I haven't exersised as much as I could've and had I done so, I know my shape would have changed more radically. The diet has also increased my confidence. I feel more more energetic which is more important when you have a stressful job. I've already recommended the diet to a friend.
'I'm definitely going to carry on. I know know the 'long game' shows greater profit than the 'quick fix' and simply by exchanging Canderel for sugar without a diet change can save you a massive amount of calories over the year - and fewer calories mean weight loss. I now have a daily regime that's easy and healthy.'
