Recharge body and mind with a few clever food choices, and lose up to 8lb in two weeks with diet guru Monica Grenfell's brain boosting diet.

Think of this as your rescue remedy - antioxidant-rich foods can give your brain a boost and turn back the clock. Eat as many different fruits and vegetables as you can, especially the brightly coloured ones. Here are some of the most potent antioxidant foods:

Fruits: Blueberries, blackberries, Red Delicious apples with skin, sweet cherries, black plums, raspberries, cranberries, strawberries, avocados, Navel oranges, red grapes.

Vegetables: Garlic, cooked red cabbage and broccoli, dark leafy greens (spinach and kale), red peppers, carrots, sweet potatoes, onions and tomatoes.

Nuts: Walnuts and Brazil nuts are brilliant.

Wholegrains: Wholewheat, oatmeal and brown rice are a good source of antioxidants.

Proteins: Omega-3 and -6 fatty acids are brain foods. All meat, dairy, poultry and nuts are excellent for protein.
