Top tips for relieving morning sickness

Top tips for morning sickness

Feeling nauseous every morning? Then follow our top tips to help relieve your morning sickness.

  • Eat little and often. Bland, low-fat, high-carb meals are best.
  • Drink loads of water and juice but avoid drinks that dehydrate, eg, coffee or alcohol.
  • Keep dry crackers, rusks or biscuits to hand day and night.
  • Tiredness can make it worse, so make sure you're getting enough sleep.
  • Ginger tablets or capsules (from health food shops) are better at reducing nausea than ginger-based food or drink.
  • Vitamins B6 and B12 can help. You need to take the supplements from the start of pregnancy for them to be effective.
  • Try acupressure wristbands - sold as a travel-sickness remedy.
  • Fresh air makes you feel better, so sleep with the windows open.
  • Your doctor may prescribe antihistamines Don't try any old ones you have at home, as there are some that should be avoided in pregnancy

User tips
