Tiredness in pregnancy

Many women feel excessively tired in pregnancy - particularly at the beginning, when the baby is growing fast and your body is working incredibly hard. Your midwife will offer to do some blood tests at various stages of your pregnancy. One of these will be to look at your haemoglobin level, which can indicate anaemia.
This will be checked at the beginning of pregnancy and then, again, towards the end. Symptoms of anaemia may include extreme tiredness, paleness, palpitations and shortness of breath.
