If you're commuting to work by train or car, ask if you can change your hours in the last trimester. By starting an hour earlier or later, you might miss some of the crush. However, if that's not possible, just leave the house earlier in the morning and catch the bus, or drive a quieter way to work - anything that takes the effort out is well worth it!

For underground users, like me, look out for the little groups of regular commuters heading away from the main crowds each morning and follow them - they're using the sneaky short-cuts to different platforms and there are usually fewer steps!
