Age 2 to 3
Physical milestones
By age 3, nine out of ten children have good bladder control and are dry most days. They can also climb up and down stairs unaided. Favourite words become 'No!' and 'Me do it!'. Around half of 2-year-olds have daily tantrums.
Cognitive
Vocabulary expands By age 3, your toddler knows about 1,000 words. They also become more sociable. Talk to your health visitor about any worries; it's possible your child could have autism (a life-long developmental disability that affects how a person a communicates and relates to others).
Age 3 to 4
Physical milestones
They improve at running, jumping and climbing. They can grasps items like a crayon in a more precise and controlled way.
Cognitive skills
Talks in sentences and can chant rhymes. Speak to your health visitor if you're worried your child's speech is delayed; he may need a hearing test and/or speech therapy. Tantrums become less frequent. At 31/2, children begin to control their emotions more.
