Buying a baby chair

Average rating: 3 out of 5 star rating

Things to consider

  • Do you want a design that will rock but can also be used as a stationary chair?
  • Do you want to be able to fold it up, either to pack away or take on holiday?
  • Is the chair suitable for your baby's age and weight? It can be unsafe if your baby's too big or too small.
  • Could the chair tip over? Look for one with a sturdy base.
  • Is the base non-slip or could it shuffle about with your baby's movements?
  • Is the safety harness well-padded, securely attached and easily adjustable?
  • Do you want a chair that can recline fully?
  • Is the cover machine-washable?
  • Do you want a removable toy bar?
  • Does the head-hugger offer your baby's neck and head enough support?

Mum's top tip:

'When Chloe was a baby and I wanted to take a shower, I'd take her into the bathroom in her baby chair. I'd put her in a spot where I could see her and where she wouldn't get splashed with hot water.'
Sarah Smith, mum to Chloe, now 4
