Buying a travel system
Why buy a travel system?
A travel system is the name for a pushchair that uses the same base, or chassis, to hold a car seat. It saves time and effort, as your baby's car seat just slots onto a frame that you can then push around town. All of this means that you won't disturb your baby.
The pushchair-and-travel seat combination is called a 2-in-1, add a separate carrycot and it becomes a 3-in-1. If you don't use a car, opt for a pram and pushchair combo.
Things to consider
- Is the travel system suitable from birth? If it doesn't have a lie-flat pram it will only be suitable from 6 months.
- Is it easy to slot the car seat onto the chassis and main frame?
- Is the pushchair easy to push?
- Do you want a lightweight pushchair for a quick dash to the shops, or a more sturdy one for long countryside walks?
- Car seats that come with travel systems tend to last until 9 months.
