The routine can wait
I was trying to get my baby into a routine, which I now realise is ridiculous when a baby has colic. The routine can wait. Use everything you can to get through the early months with a colicky baby. I had to rock and hold her from 6-11pm every night and even bounced gently on a gym ball to calm her. I wish I'd used a dummy much earlier than 3 months though. If used correctly at bedtime, they're a godsend.
