No need to ask kids to tidy twice
Jane and Sam had had a few friends round for the afternoon and post-party were refusing to tidy up their toys. So I said that any toys I found lying around an hour would go straight to the charity shop, along with some other stuff I really was giving away. In a panic they cleared up most of their stuff, but like always, they got distracted.
Later, while they were having their tea, I grabbed the rest of the toys and hid them in my room and cleared out the other bags for charity. Realising what had happened, they begged me to take them to the shop to get their toys and I only returned the toys to them after a couple of days. Now I don't have to ask twice!

Erica, you are too kind! I threaten my kids that I will put all their toys in the bin! I say that the bin men will feed them to their hungry bin truck! Doesn't always work though as I think my son would be fascinated to see a truck at close range!
