Get your baby off to sleep whilst doing the housework

I found that white noise, such as a vacuum cleaner or hairdryer helped to get Ronnie off to sleep. I read somewhere that it's because it replicates the sounds a baby can hear inside the womb. Apparently you can even buy white noise machines, but doing the hoovering worked fine for me.
