How to stop your baby waking at night for a milk feed

How to stop your baby repeatedly waking at night for a milk feed

If your baby's already taking solids well in the day, try the following:

  • Gradually reduce the volume of milk you give him at night.
  • Offer only water at night when he wakes.
  • Get your partner to go in and settle him for a few nights in a row.
  • Make sure he's settling to sleep on his own and not falling asleep while on the bottle or breast.

As long as you're consistent with your new routine, he'll soon learn a better sleeping pattern.

my previous 2 children woke once a night until they were 18 months and old enough to be 'ignored' when requesting a night feed!! My third now sleeps through the night (9pm-7am) at 12 weeks!! I didnt speak to him, change him or make a fuss at night feeds and I think he must have got the hint! Most children do stop waking once you start weaning. There are pros to waking during the night though - they will have a longer nap during the day - my baby now sleeps for a max of 30minutes during the day just long enough for me to grab lunch or a shower! - the other 2 children slept for 1 hour minimum ...

My baby is 12 weeks old and has a bottle at 10.30-11.00pm then at around 3.00am and wakes at 6.30-7.30 in the morning. Do you have any surgestions on how to get her to miss the 3.00am feed?
