How to stop your baby waking at night for a milk feed
If your baby's already taking solids well in the day, try the following:
- Gradually reduce the volume of milk you give him at night.
- Offer only water at night when he wakes.
- Get your partner to go in and settle him for a few nights in a row.
- Make sure he's settling to sleep on his own and not falling asleep while on the bottle or breast.
As long as you're consistent with your new routine, he'll soon learn a better sleeping pattern.

My baby is two years old and he is still night feeding at 2am and 6am.I know this is not normal and i have made attempts to get him out of this habit, such as feeding him water only when he wakes; trying to put him back to bed; feeding him dinner before bed; feeding him more meals during the day, but he will keep crying and crying until i feed him milk. The longest period of time he has cried during these attempts is about 40mins. Neighbors were starting to complain and so were housemates. I have been told he will grow out of this, but he is TWO years old and hasn't made any progress. Two years of broken sleep is extremely exhausting and my body is starting to act out from sleep deprivation. What can I do to stop him waking?

My baby is 22 weeks and still has not slept through the night. He usually goes to bed around 9.30pm-10pm, however he is awake again about 12.30am-1am and then again 3.30am-4am. The only way he will go back to sleep is to have some milk. I have tried just giving him a soother and a cuddle but to no avail. Please help!

my previous 2 children woke once a night until they were 18 months and old enough to be 'ignored' when requesting a night feed!! My third now sleeps through the night (9pm-7am) at 12 weeks!! I didnt speak to him, change him or make a fuss at night feeds and I think he must have got the hint! Most children do stop waking once you start weaning. There are pros to waking during the night though - they will have a longer nap during the day - my baby now sleeps for a max of 30minutes during the day just long enough for me to grab lunch or a shower! - the other 2 children slept for 1 hour minimum ...

I think the advice you've all asked for shows that the advice above is a lot easier said than done! I was in the same position as you. I did get some good advice from www.sleepytot.com which was free. And I also had to be very strong to change things. It's never as easy as the experts make it sound. LOL.
