- Would you rather give birth at home or in hospital?
- Who do you want to have as your birthing partner?
- How do you feel about the different kinds of pain relief?
- Do you want to be encouraged to get about and be mobile throughout your labour?
- Would you like to be encouraged to use a birthing pool?
- Is there anything that you're particularly frightened of, such as needles, and would like to avoid?
- Do you prefer to be cared for by women wherever possible?
- Are you happy for a student to be with you during labour?
- Does your partner want to be able to cut the cord?
- Do you want to see the sex of your baby for yourselves rather than be told which you've got?
- Do you want the baby put straight to the breast?
- Would you like the placenta to be delivered naturally (physiological third stage)?
- Do you have any particular religious or cultural needs?
