Signs of teen drug use
- Red eyes, sore throat, runny nose, but without having had a cold or illness.
- Dropped old friends, made new ones or doesn't bother with friends at all.
- Changes in eating or sleeping habits, cannabis smokers often get the 'munchies' and need to eat voraciously afterwards.
- Different behaviour, if they're moody or have lost interest in school or hobbies.
Don't panic! Many drug-free adolescents go through these stages. So if you suspect something, ask, you may find there's a different reason.
Around 36 per cent of teenagers in Britain have tried illegal drugs like cannabis or ecstasy. But it's no use lecturing your children on the dangers unless YOU know what they really are. So, be prepared to give the best advice and support.
