Which chart should I follow?

Average rating: 3 out of 5 star rating
Q. I'm breastfeeding my baby and the new charts say they're more adapted for babies who are fed this way. Should I still be using the old Red Book?
A. Although the World Health Organisation has stated these charts are more accurate than the ones currently in the PHCR, it's up to each nation's health authority to officially adopt them. The UK Department of Health is looking into using them, but until it decides, all children will continue to follow the Red Book.
Even when the new charts are introduced, for the sake of
a continuous picture of your child's growth you'll be advised to stay on the one you're using, as mistakes could be made in re-plotting the data on to the new scale.
If your child is deviating widely from the current chart, your health visitor can use thrive lines on the new charts to review his feeding pattern.

The Parent Held Child Record (PHCR)
or Red Book, contains weight and height charts for children up to the age of 5 and is the current standard endorsed by the Department of Health.
