Our 14-year-old hasn't had a period yet
Average rating:
Don't worry. Some young girls don't start their periods until they're 16, despite recent press coverage about girls starting much younger. But if you're worried, talk to your GP, especially if your daughter is displaying physical signs of a period, such as cramp-like pains or sore breasts but without any blood loss. There is a rare condition called 'imperforate hymen' when there is no opening to the hymen. However, this can be remedied with a simple operation.
