My child struggles with tying his laces
If your child can't tie their laces, despite countless attempts to show them, you should assess whether it is really can't or won't.
If it is can't, this may be a sign of dyspraxia or dyslexia. Talk to their teacher to see if they've noticed any other signs.
If it is won't, try a trade-off. If they start tying their laces regularly, you'll do something they want. Point out that, although it might be fashionable to leave them untied, it's dangerous and can cause accidents.

I think everything depends on how old your child is before " tying shoe laces " becomes questionable on a child's ability or perhaps those horrible labelled disabilities. It is nice to have milestones in a child's life to compare so they don't get left behind but for safety sake I would buy a different type of shoe rather than allow the shoe laces to become overly important. Most children get there and learn in their own good time.
