'Life after my miscarriage'

Miscarriage, your stories

My miscarriage happened on a Saturday and I was due for my first scan on the Monday. It was my first pregnancy and I'd conceived quite easily. My boyfriend Uli and I had told lots of people we were expecting and I was 13 weeks gone so I thought the real 'danger zone' was over. But that morning I woke up and found some spots of blood.

I went to our local hospital but they just sent me home saying there was nothing they could do. Later that day, I started getting cramps. They got worse until they were coming in waves. I was sitting on the loo when suddenly lots of liquid came out. It must have been my waters breaking although I didn't realise I'd have waters by that point. I started bleeding heavily too. It was awful, especially as I realised then I was probably losing the baby.

We called an ambulance but it took too long to arrive so Uli drove me to hospital. The doctors there examined me to see if my cervix had opened then put me under anaesthetic and took me into theatre. When I woke up, I was told they'd performed a D&C or evacuation to remove the foetus.

It was an awful time for me and Uli. It was so hard not knowing why this had happened. I really wanted to know whether it had been a boy or girl too but the doctors couldn't say.

I was advised to wait three months before getting pregnant again but I was desperate for a baby. I was also terrified I wouldn't be able to conceive again so Uli and I started trying straight away. Luckily I fell pregnant again really easily after just one period and our son Jonas is now eight months old. The miscarriage was an awful experience but I'm proof you can go on to have a healthy baby afterwards.

I was 12weeks pregnant i went for my scan and was told our baby died 2weeks ago it was called a missed miscarriage i had to go for a dnc so they could remove our baby. I had alot of help from the hospital to get pregnant as i have pcos really worried this will happen again if i get pregnant again. The hospital said i can start trying asap so they have started me back on all the treatment. Still cant stop thinking was it something i done wrong??!!

I'm pleased everything worked out for the lady and she has a beautiful baby now! I've got a little girl shes 4 and I had a miscarrage in 2006 with the same systoms and precudure as the lady. Im pregnant now and waiting for my scan appointment but I am scared and wanted to find out what your suppose to feel in the first trimester! Im tired feel sick but im also feeling achey and bloated a lot of the time. At the end of the day I look pregnant with a smallish bump but it looks huge considering im less then 12 weeks! Im just ensure and would like someone to reassure me that its all normal. thanks
