The Food Standards Agency says children between six months and five years could benefit from taking drops containing vitamins A, C and D.You can get them cheaply from child health clinics or free for under-fives if you're receiving income support or an income-based Job Seeker's Allowance.

However if a child has a varied diet including fruit and vegetables they probably don't need extra vitamins. If you have concerns about your child's diet it's best to discuss these with your health visitor or GP rather than resorting to supplements.
