How much sleep?
Parenting experts contradict each other on many issues, but be it Gina Ford's The Complete Sleep Guide (Vermilion) or Dr Ferber's Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems (Dorling Kindersley), one thing they agree on, give or take half an hour, is sleep requirement. Use Dr William Wilkoff's table, below, as your rough guide.

1 month: 15.5hrs including three daytime naps
3 months: 15 hrs including three daytime naps
6 months: 14.5 hrs including two daytime naps
9 months: 14 hrs including two daytime naps
12 months: 13.75hrs including two daytime naps
18 months: 13.5 hrs including one daytime nap
2 yrs: 13 hrs including one daytime nap
3 yrs: 12 hrs including one daytime nap
4 yrs: 11.5hrs
