Giving your child a good body image
Some teenagers are more vulnerable to anorexia and bulimia than others, yet there are things as parents you can do to reduce the risk of this condition taking hold.
- Don't criticise your teenager's body shape.
- Be positive about their good points and help build their self-esteem about their physical appearance and academic ability.
- Don't give them unrealistic expectations that they will not be able to achieve and will leave them feeling worthless.
- Set a good example by not constantly talking about diets and trying different diets yourself.
