Getting dad to bond with baby

Getting dad to bond with baby
Average rating: 3 out of 5 star rating

It's really important that the fathers' role in caring for and bonding with the new baby is encouraged and not neglected. This can often happen if he is expected only to look after the older child, leaving the mother with sole responsibility for the baby.

This may be for practical reasons - to allow Mum to recover from the birth and look after the new baby - but can result in Dad not being active enough in the baby's first months; not bonding as closely with this child as the first, when it was a new learning experience for both parents.
